After several small setbacks (like a dead battery in the car just after loading what seemed like every item in our house into the car for our trip here on Wednesday!), we finally arrived in Vienna on the 23rd, and spent Christmas Eve Day at some of Vienna's wonderful Christmas markets. While we had relatively warm weather, and no snow, it still was pretty special to be in this wonderful city the day before Christmas. Christmas Day was spent opening gifts, hanging out, napping, eating and catching up with family on skype. We rounded out the day by watching Fred Claus (and miraculously, I did not fall asleep!) Today we will head out to Schonbrunn Palace (the Hapsburg's "little summer cottage") and catch the last day of the Christmas market there. We are hoping that we can find an open grocery store somewhere along the way -- Austria is somewhat infamous for its stores being closed A LOT, and although we are desperately in need of some things, my shopping trip this morning was completely fruitless -- every store close to our apartment was CLOSED!! Hoping that each of you had a safe and blessed Christmas!
