Well, it looks like the Richardson family may be in the midst of taking another plunge into pet ownership (guardianship may be the more appropriate 
term in Serbia). After her mother was found dead in the street in front of our house two days ago (apparently hit by a car), one of her kittens (now referred to lovingly as "Maya" by our kids) appeared on our doorstep and hasn't left (except for her adventure up into one of our pine trees yesterday -- and finally rescued by Wes' guitar teacher hours later). I have been neutral about whether we should keep the kitten or not (particularly since I'm allergic to cats), and Eli was downright negative about it initially, but then, in an apparent moment of weakness, gave in to Wes' pleas to let him give the kitten some milk. Hard to tell exactly what might come of this, but it is looking increasingly like we may indeed have a kitten now. The super cute thing is that our Serbian next door neighbors have a cat that gave birth to kittens a month ago, and so Virginia's sweet friend, Militsa, has a kitten about the same age as our (?) kitten. The girls have spent the last two days sitting on the front steps of one of our houses holding their "babies." It's hard to argue with the virtue of this kind of an experience for a kid. how sweet! we just got a new kitten a few weeks ago and anna is allergic but has been begging since jill's cat had kittens in april so we now have one...she is posted on my fb page...she is so sweet and easy! i think you are doing the right thing by keeping it...the kids just look so happy to have her!
