Time Flies...

Well, it's hard to believe that it's February of 2010, and that a year ago, we were packing up our house in Nashville and getting ready for the adventure of our lives! We landed here in Belgrade on March 4th of 2009, so in just a few weeks, we will celebrate our 1st anniversary of living in Belgrade. What a year it has been, too. Simply marvelous.

Besides the fact that Belgrade has turned out to be a great place to live, and that the Embassy and school communities have been so welcoming and nurturing for our kids and for us, it has been wonderful to have many visitors from the U.S. during our time here. Several of Eli's colleagues from the states who are also friends of ours have come over to help Eli out with some of his training programs here in Serbia, my parents have visited twice (they are such adventurous travelers!), Eli's Dad visited in September, and my friend Caroline Hodges will visit in March. When you're this far away from home, it's really nice to see some familiar faces from time to time!

Today is my parent's last day in Belgrade. Tomorrow, we'll go to Prague, where we will meet up with Wes, who is there for a school trip. This is his second of four school trips this year -- the first was the soccer trip to Finland; this trip is for the Middle School choir. In a few weeks, he'll travel to Riga, Latvia for the Middle School basketball tournament, and finally, at the end of March, he'll go to Vienna for the Knowledge Bowl tournament. What an amazing experience for a kid his age!!!

Some things never change, though, and Wes is still a huge basketball fan. We are all enjoying watching Vandy's Men's BB team have an outstanding season, and Wes, himself, recently was selected from a group of players to travel with the Middle School boys' team for the tournament in March. He absolutely LOVES to play basketball, and certainly does not let his somewhat dimunitive size get in the way of being a presence on the basketball court.
